A copy of a postcard, the scene was recorded by S Powell and it was published and printed by C G Jowitt - he came to Rushden about 1900 but only remained here
for about 10 years, so we can date the postcard to 1900-1910.

In 1930 the area became a Memorial Garden to Bessie Patenall, a sister of Thomas Patenall; his wife Clara was Commandant at the V.A.D. Hospital in WWI and Bessie was Sister in Charge.
