Recreation at Raunds
Generous Presentation of Field to Wesleyan Club

The centrally situated grounds of the Raunds Wesleyan Club were opened on Monday evening, when friends and members in good numbers assembled on the field. Mr. W.F. Corby C.C. (the donor of the field) in a few appropriate words, presented the deed of conveyance of the parcel of land (about two acres) in Wellington Street to the trustees who had been appointed to hold the land for recreational purposes in connection with the Wesleyan Church at Raunds. Mr. L.G.H. Lee, one of the secretaries, accepted the gift on behalf of the trustees, and expressed the hope that the particular reasons which had prompted Mr. Corby to make his generous gift might be fully realised. After this the tennis court and bowling greens were thrown open to the members, and soon games were being indulged in. The Temperance Silver Band, under conductorship of Mr. O. Pentelow, played popular music.
