Mr. Fred  Brittin
formerly of Chelveston


The funeral took place at Chelveston on Wednesday of Mr. Fred Brittin, of 16, Vivian-road, Wellingborough, a retired Chelveston farmer. Mr. Brittin met with an accident near Thrapston about a month ago, and since then had been in Wellingborough Cottage Hospital, where he died on Sunday.

At the time of the accident, on December 15th, Mr. Brittin, who was 72, was motoring with his friend Mr. David Horne, of 47, Vivian-road, Wellingborough, to Thrapston Fat Stock Show.

On Islip Hill they encountered a flock of sheep, and in an endeavour to avoid them Mr. Brittin, who was driving, skidded on the ice-bound road, and the car crashed into a tree, overturned and caught fire.

Mr. Horne was able to extricate him, self, but Mr. Brittin was trapped….
