Wollaston Parish Register

1663 - 1781

This register is easily read, but with the events in mixed order.
Most events are in date order, although occasionally in the right year but out of order within the year. Some have both birth date and baptism date, some have just birth date, some just baptism, and a few without the actual date.

For short periods in the early 1700s no parents are given.

A few adult baptisms are recorded by adding a note alongside a birth recorded at the time. The event in the year where the entry occurs is in the index, with the other event in the "notes" column. A few later insertions are misplaced in the wrong year.

The entries are mixed until 1755, when marriages are no longer recorded in this register. Baptisms and burials continue to be mixed until 1765, when Anthony Munton, vicar for 52 years, died. For 1766-1779 all baptisms are followed by all the burials, with baptisms for 1780/81 inside the end cover.
There are two pages cut from the register so Bishop's Transcripts have been used to bridge the gap in the burials from June 1776 to October 1779.
