George Hall - draper

George Hall and John Hall
|

George Hall was born at Hardingstone, and came to Rushden about 1887 as an Estate Agent with his wife Sarah A (born Dudley WOR), and son George aged 11 (born Hardingston), two daughters Daisy 9 and Alice 8 both born at Northampton, and John aged 6 born at Earls Barton.
In 1901 the family had moved to Higham Ferrers, and George was a builder and decorator, Alice was a pupil teacher and George jun a draper’s assistant, and John a draper’s apprentice. Daughter Margaret A seems to be of the age of Daisy so perhaps the same girl, is a draper’s cashier.
From the notice above it seems they stayed at the Rushden shop until 1950, but there are no entries in the directories until 1928 when they were at 60 High Street. |
