A long running popular and useful business has now joined the steady exodus from Rushden.

Net Affair was based at 12D High Street, Rushden, NN10 0PR, there telephone number was 411000. And no doubt many of us, less handy folk with a needle and thread, would have called it often enough.

Or walk in with said clothing, and mention the amount to be adjusted. I myself have never used metric, so always asked if I could stick to inches etc. please.

And was reassured that it was perfect, and she could use the tape measure for all customers needs. (I can’t tell the difference between a Millimetre and a Millipede!)

Curtain Accessories, Made to Measure Curtains, Net Curtains, Bedspreads, Window Blinds, Curtain alterations, and Cushions were all taken care of.

At the end of June the owner Jenny Glenham has taken retirement, and Saturday 29th was the last day of trading.

I did ask Jenny if she intended to do some part time work from home, after 22 years at the shop. And with her usual happy smile, was told she has more than enough to get on with! So that idea was quickly dispelled.

On my final visit to the shop during the last few days, the sewing machine was being unplugged, and made ready for transit.

The days leading up to the weekend had been hot and fairly humid. Saturday’s weather was a blue sky, with a few white clouds, and a top temperature of 24.4 C. The month of June, 2024 had been both drier and cooler than average, as recorded by Rushden weather station. This is our very own information packed site.
