Rushden Echo, 19th January 1912

At the County Court on Monday, Wadsworth Bros., coach builders, Newton-road, Rushden, sued Alfred Fleetwood, butcher, High-street, Rushden, for £5/10/0, balance due for a cart ordered by the defendant.
The contra receipt below, tells us that Wadsworth Bros were trading from 63 Newton Road, and that they had been Commended for carts and floats at the Northamptonshire Agricultural Society's Wellingborough Meeting in 1914.

Flight A.M. Edward Wadsworth, of the Royal Flying Corps, formerly of the firm of Messrs. Wadsworth, coachbuilders, Newton-road, Rushden, passed through the town on Wednesday with an aeroplane, though it could not be said that he paid a “flying visit” to Rushden, as the aeroplane had been “wounded” in action, and was being conveyed in a motor trolley to be repaired. Mr. Wadsworth was accompanied by seven comrades, and their progress through the town evoked a good deal of interest.

This billhead is from December 1947 for Hire of Cars for Wedding & Journeys as required etc., in the name of Mr Hanger.

They could supply any make of car, but were agents for Austin Cars, and members of the Motor Agents Association.

It was receipted by E Wadsworth, who had not remembered that a new year had begun - it was paid on Jan 3 1947, but the invoice date is Dec 30 1947.
