Rushden Argus, 26th January  1912

Firemen’s Long Service—At a meeting of the Fire Brigade, held last week, Fireman J. Sparrow and Fireman J. Whiting were presented with long-service medals from the National Fire Brigade Union on the completion of their ten years’ service. There was a full muster of the brigade to witness the presentation.

Rushden Echo & Argus, 6th January 1922, transcribed by Kay Collins
FIREMEN HONOURED—On Friday evening last at the Fire Station, Hon. Capt. Fred Knight, J.P., presented medals to several members of the Rushden Fire Brigade for long service. He complimented each member on his long and useful service in the brigade, and spoke in most appreciative terms of how each member had always carried out his duties in so praiseworthy a manner. The following were the recipients of the medals:—Engineer Claude Green, silver medal and two clasps representing 30 years' service; Firemen J. Sparrow and J. Whiting, silver medal representing 20 years' service; firemen L. Bridgford, H. Payne, C. Timson, and A. Jacques, bronze medal, representing 10 years' service. The presentation of medals followed a capital supper, provided by Mrs. Whiting, the caretaker's wife. An enjoyable evening was afterwards spent. [possibly the pictue below?]
