Another Rushden Improvement

a sketch of the new building 1960s
A sketch
The scene in the 1960s
The Rushden Echo, 22nd July, 1898, Transcribed by Gill Hollis

The old house and office in High-street recently tenanted by Mr. John Packwood and Mr. J. C. Stevens respectively have this week been demolished, and by the courtesy of Mr. Harry Knight, architect, Newton-road, we are able to give our readers an idea of the general appearance of the new shops and houses to be erected on the site for Mr. Northern, the owner of the property.  The premises will be three storeys high and will be quite up to the standard of the great improvements carried out recently in High-street.
