Broncho Bill's Circus was managed by a very eccentric showman, Billy Mack, who claimed it to be American and the "Wildest Show on Earth". It certainly lived up to its name!!
The First Act was a full grown buffalo hurtling into the Ring with Billy being dragged behind on a piece of rope. (Health & Safety would not be too pleased nowadays!!)
The Circus was later known as Circus Hoffman.
Billy's children - Peter, Rodney, Jeffrey and Valerie - all opened circuses of their own in the 1960s and 1970s. Known as 'Uncle Sam's American Circus', 'Circus Markus', 'Circus King' and 'Circus Holiday', only Uncle Sam's survives and is one of the largest independent shows in Britain.
