In 1988 with "Half-A- Sixpence" was the last time RA.O.S. was to perform at the Ritz. Split weeks to perform a show was very difficult - it was like 3 first nights for one show.

Other venues were tried, but with the professional stage on the "doorstep" at Northampton, the Society needed a theatre to perform in.

With great discussions and deliberations, R.A.O.S. decided to take the plunge in 1995 with "Kiss Me Kate" and to perform at the new Castle Theatre Wellingborough. It was a great success and the Society have been their ever since.

After considering the ever increasing prices in room hire and scenery it was decided to go for a bigger unit where the Society could rehearse and also build and store scenery.

2006 - 60 years anniversary

Many traditions are still carried out in the Society from those early years, one being after rehearsal drinks in local pubs. Unfortunately the Queen Victoria hotel no longer exists so over the years the Griffin at Higham Ferrers plus others and at the moment The Needle & Awl in Rushden is used.

In 1997 the Society performed the East of England Amateur Premiere with "Me and My Girl" and this year to mark our 60th Anniversary we are pleased to do the same with "Buddy" (The Buddy Holly Story).

In 1999 due to increasing prices for rehearsal rooms it was decided to rent a unit in Oak Street Rushden for its rehearsals. This is where we stayed until the old factory was sold for housing development in 2002.

Although only a few names have been mentioned in this short nostalgia we would not be here today celebrating 60 years if it was not for every single one who has contributed either on stage, backstage and front of house over the years.
