| I take great pleasure in bidding you welcome to our GoJden Jubilee celebration tonight and hope that the arrangements that have been made will be worthy of the occasion as we mark fifty years of "Service above Self" by the members of the Rushden Rotary Club.
I find it hard to describe the privilege of being elected President in the Golden Jubilee Year without sounding pompous. Nevertheless it is a great honour and I have to thank all the Fellows of the Club for their tremendous support in making this a year to remember.
I hope you will like the souvenir menu and especially the "potted history" compiled by Rotarian John Harrison from the Club records, and that it will be retained as a reminder of what J hope will be a memorable evening.
So as the RIBJ President presents the Rotary Jnternational Golden Jubilee Certificate, I bid you welcome and ask you to join me in wishing the Rotary Club of Rushden every success in the next fifty years.
