The factory in Newton Road between the Vestry Hall & the library
Mr W Ashford
Mr W Campion
Some eight years ago the above gentlemen commenced the business of heel manufacturers and leather dealers, and they have made rapid progress. The premises have been enlarged three times to cope with the increasing trade, which comes in large quantities to the firm. Both the partners are thoroughly practical and understand the business of heel making. Previous to the War a large civilian trade was done, and all kinds of Men’s, youths’ and boys’ heels were produced either with top pieces or without. Since the War they have concentrated all their attention on the manufacture of heels for the British and Allied Armies. In this they have been very successful and have served a wide district, having a large and modern factory and all the requisite machinery for a large and keen trade.
