Albert & Olive Scrimshaw
Glove making

Olive & Albert with patterns and machine

Albert E Scrimshaw and Olive F Collins were both born at Northampton in 1914. Albert & Olive were married in the Northampton district in 1938.

The photographs of Albert and Olive at work, must have been during the war as Albert was wearing army uniform. They appear to be in the process of glove making.

Was Olive perhaps working at home during the war whilst Albert was away at war. Perhaps they had just started a small business, before he was called up, or maybe Olive was an outworker?

There are no mentions found of glove makers being in Rushden, so perhaps these were sold through another company. Strong & Fisher were known to be suppliers of leather for glove making.

If you know anything about more the Scrimshaws, we'd be pleased to hear from you.
