The business was started in the 1940s by Bernard Palmer when he took over Robinson's Fruit Stores, at 21 High Street.

Bernard Palmer took over the business and continued to trade as Robinson's Fruit Stores.

He started to sell flowers and employed Jan as his assistant. Jan made beautiful floral arrangements and wreaths.

When Bernard retired, Jan took over the business and now concentrated only on the floristry, and moved to number 27, in the 1960s.

Jan's daughter now runs the business, and still trades as 'Jan's Floral Boutique'.

In 2024 the business was transferred to a unit on Sanders Lodge Estate.
