A bright idea dreamed up by four school-children brought joy to handicapped youngsters at Rushden Hospital yesterday.
The quartet of seven-year-olds from Irthlingborough Infants’ went along to the Colton Ward to hand over toys bought with the £25 profit from a disco.
The pupils, Lance Goodman, Zoe Brown, Laurie Lee and Hannah Mitchell, thought a disco would be a good fund-raiser for the International year of the Disabled. Lance and Zoe are pictured showing some of the toys to patient Tracey Wilson.
It was organized with the help of headmistress Miss E.R. Chapman. About 100 boys and girls danced to music provided by the Irthlingborough Venture Scouts.
Colton Ward was chosen as it was nearby and Sister Sally Childs was on hand to help receive the toys.
The ward has also just been sent £122 towards its swimming pool fund by the Rectory Farm Riding Stables, after a ‘mid-summer madness’ evening.
