"We Serve the World" was a history of the Central Machinery Company, The Hawkes Family, and Fred Hawkes Machinery and Refrigeration, published in 2004.

It was written by Eric Fowell and compiled by Eric with help from Ann Cooper who did the typing.

Eric and Ann worked together on a number of publications.

Eric wrote lots of books on a variety of subjects and was an avid collector of photographs and postcards.

Ann was a native of Podington and produced a pictorial book about the village and
its social history, in 2005.
