We don't know who was playing but note the trees backing on to Spencer Road are now well established, so about 1935.

bowling in 1954
Surprise of the week came on Wednesday – there wasn’t a drop of rain all day. Rushden’s bowling enthusiasts took advantage of the dry and reasonably sunny spell and were out in force on the green at Spencer Park.
Every rink was occupied and it was reported to be the busiest time the greens had had throughout the holiday.

Above: The pavilion is being provided by
Urban Council in Spencer Park and will cost something like £5,300. It will make a vast improvement to facilities in the park: it has changing rooms and showers, for players
and referees, and toilets.
