Mr. F. J. Denton

Mr. F. J. Denton
Rushden Echo & Argus, 22nd August 1947

100 Miles a Day

CYCLING 1,400  miles during his holidays — to John o' Groats  and  back—at  the age of 60, is his idea of pleasure. Mr. F. J. Denton, of Rushden, averages 10,000 miles a year on wheels.

Cruising along at about 100 miles a day, he lets his fancy lead him through the high roads and the by-roads, all over Great Britain.

Life begins at fifty for cyclists, is Mr. Denton's opinion. Since he reached that age, he has raced faster than ever.

Note: Fred and his twin sister, Edith Ellen Denton were born 30th Sep 1888. Edith married Charles Perkins at Park Road Methodist Church in 1912. After her daughter Margaret Perkins emigrated to Canada in 1945, Ellen soon followed.
