The family lived at 136 Queen Street in 1901. William James was aged 44 and had been born at Naseby. His wife Eva was 47, born at Brigstock, and their three sons, William David, aged 21, Ernest, aged 15 and Arthur James aged 4, were born in Rushden.

The two eldest boys were working at home, employed by their father as carpenters and joiners.

This certificate tells us that William came to Rushden about 1883 aged 22. The 1881 census has Thomas Everard, a carpenter from Naseby, boarding with John Caldwell in High Street. Perhaps Thomas was his brother, and he had encouraged William to come here to live?
