At the morning and evening services at the High-street Independent Wesleyan Church on Sunday, the Rev T S Kee made reference to the passing of Mr Oliver Claridge who was a life-long member of the church. Mr Kee said the Mr Claridge always displayed a keen interest in the church's work and was a most generous supporter. The handsome pulpit in the church was a fitting memorial to him and to the family. Rushden Echo & Argus, 9th March 1945 Left £500 To Church Mr Oliver Claridge, of "Westward," Rushden, who died on July 9th last aged 76, left £34,726 16s. 3d. gross, with net personalty £31,599 14s. 9d. (duty paid £4,603). He appointed marriage settlement funds to his daughter, and left £500 to the Wesleyan Church, High-street, Rushden, £300 and 375 war Certificates to Gladys Louisa Sharpe (maid), if still in his service, £500, furniture and cars, and certain shares to his daughter, other legacies and the residue upon trust for his daughter for life and then to her children. Probate has been granted to his daughter, Mrs. Audrey M. Samet, of the same address, and the National Provincial Bank Ltd., of Bishopsgate. |
