ObituaryWe sincerely regret to record the death, which took place last Friday, of Mr F J Harsant, pastor in charge of Succoth Baptist Chapel, at the age of 63 years. The deceased gentleman had been a great sufferer from an internal complaint for some 16 years, but kept to his ministerial duties until three weeks last Sunday, when he conducted two services. He was compelled to take to his bed on the following day, but gradually became weaker until the end came peacefully last Friday evening. The late Mr Harsant came to take charge of the Rushden chapel about two years ago from Wisbech, where he had been pastor for two years. He leaves a widow and one son to mourn their loss. During his brief period of work in Rushden the late Mr Harsant had made many friends, and had done valued work in connection with the Succoth cause. The members of the chapel will feel his loss very keenly. The funeral took place on Tuesday in the cemetery, Pastor H Newton (Wellingboro’) officiating both in the cemetery chapel and at the graveside, The coffin was of polish elm with brass fittings, and bore the inscription: Frederlck John Harsant The mourners comprised: Mrs Harsant (widow) and Mr F G Harsant (son), Mr Murton (brother-in-law) and Mr Watling (executor), Mr Newell and Mr Cox (deacons of Succoth Chapel), and Mr Brown (superintendent of Succoth Sunday school). |
