An ex-Rushden policeman, Mr Frederick John Webster (79), of 5, Montague-street, passed away on Saturday after a short illness. Mr Webster was a native of Brayfield but had lived in Rushden for 40 years. He joined the police service as a young man and was with it for 28 years, retiring 31 years ago. A wife and two daughters are bereaved. The funeral was held on Tuesday, the Rev E Hirst, Vicar of St Peter’s, conducting the service at the home before cremation at the Kettering crematorium. Mourners were: Mrs J Hodgkinson (daughter), Miss M Webster (daughter), Mrs E Dumbleton (niece), Mr and Mrs H Leach, of Edgware (nephew and niece), and Mrs J Wright (friend). Mrs E Webster (widow) was prevented from attending through indisposition. The undertakers were Messrs Whittington and Tomlin. |
