It is a rare event when in one week a father celebrates his golden wedding and the son his silver wedding. Our photograph is of a father and son Mr. George Pearson of Olney and Mr. Walter Pearson of Rushden who have recently enjoyed this distinction. Born and married at Clifton Paynes, Bucks, Mr. George Pearson has enjoyed 50 yeas of happy married life. He started work at the age of seven, and is still vigorous enough to continue his work as an employee of the Midland Railway Company. He has six sons and 15 grandchildren. Three of the sons are employed by the Midland Railway company and two others reside in Rushden. Mr. Walter Pearson, whose silver wedding followed his father’s golden wedding by a few days only, lives at 10, Windmill Road, Rushden and is partner in Spriggs and Pearson, boot manufacturers, whose factory is at “The Oakley”. Mr. Frank Pearson also lives at Rushden, and Mr. Fred Pearson has a house at Wymington. Nov. 30th was the day of Mr. Walter Pearson’s silver wedding, and on Saturday last the happy double event was celebrated at a party held in Moor Rod School Rushden. The company included the senior and junior couples, the sons and grandchildren and many friends, over 100 persons being present. In the photograph, it will be noticed, the golden and silver cakes are conspicuous.
