George had been born in Rushden, son of William and Emma, and was just ten years old when the family emigrated to Australia.
In June 1917 George Arthur Perkins enlisted into the 2nd Light Horse Australian Imperial Force, No 3427. He was discharged at Brisbane on 22nd May 1919, having served one year and 357 days, one year and 239 days being “on service abroad”.
George married Minnie Elizabeth Cox of Speedwell at the Methodist Church there, on 2nd July 1928.
Like his father William, George farmed in Australia, and he and Minnie had 4 children, Gwenneth Ella, Pearl Elizabeth, Hazel May, and Robert George.
