Mr. and Mrs. Henry Roe, of 14, Spinney Close, Rushden, celebrated their golden wedding with a party at the home of their daughter, Mrs. A. Loakes, of 75, Highfield-road.
The couple were married at Cambridge, Mrs. Roe then being Miss Caroline Birkett, of Cottenham, Cambridgeshire, and Mr. Roe coming from Liverpool.
They came to Rushden from Long Eaton, Derbyshire, 34 years ago, and Mr. Roe was employed as a road foreman by the Rushden Urban District Council up to his retirement seven years ago.

Mr. Roe is now 77 years of age, and his wife 82. Both are in very good health. A son, four daughters, one adopted daughter, nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and other relatives attended the anniversary party. The cake was provided by L.A.C. and Mrs. R. Shortland, of Whetstone, Leicester. L.A.C. Shortland, who is a grandson, is at present serving in the Far East.
Two more great-grandchildren and their father were unable to attend through illness.
Telegrams and other messages of congratulation were received, together with a number of presents.
