In 1891 Mark Southam was aged 39, working as a Policeman. He was born at Syresham. His first wife Elizabeth Ann Casey was born at Crowfield in Syresham in 1852, and they married in 1875. Elizabeth died in 1885 aged just 33. In 1881 they had two young boys Harry aged 3 and Frank aged 1, and were living at Wollaston. Another son Fred J T was born there in 1883. In 1886 Mark married Mary Anne Parker (born 1848), and soon moved to Bozeat, but Mary died in 1890, aged 42 having been together for just four years. Early in 1891 he married Esther Fairey of Bozeat age 27 born 1864 not found. Esther was daughter of Thomas and Hannah Johnson, and the widow of George Fairey.
They moved to Rushden, where daughter Emma E C was born in 1900. In 1901 Mark was working as a shoe laster, living in Oakley Road, and his three sons were a clicker and two lasters, and Esther was a closer, all working with him at home. Beer Retailer - They were at 130 Cromwell Road/2 Pratt Road, in 1928, when Mark is listed in Kelly’s Directory directory as a beer retailer. Sadly both Mark and Esther had died by 1930. They are buried in Rushden Cemetery in Grave F441:
