The Rushden Echo, 28th November, 1924, transcribed by Gill Hollis
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tansey
Golden Wedding at Rushden

A Mission Band Worker

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Tansey, of Moor-road, Rushden, celebrated the 50th anniversary of their marriage on Sunday.

Mr. Tansey, who is 76 years of age, and Mrs. Tansey, who is 68, are very well known.  They were married at the Parish Church, Brington, Huntingdonshire.  Mrs. Tansey is a native of Brington, and Mr. Tansey was born at Caldecott, near Peterborough.  Mr. Tansey, well known as a worker in the local Wesleyan Reform circuit for a number of years, worked as a carpenter for the C.W.S. in Rushden for 20 years, retiring four years ago owing to the strain on his health.  He was for several years in the Rushden Mission Silver Band, and has always taken a very great interest in it.

Mr. and Mrs. Tansey have two sons and four daughters living and 14 grandchildren.  The sons and daughters are: Mrs. Harrison whose husband is a builder at Rushden; Mr. Charles Tansey, who is a foreman in a Leicester boot factory; Mrs. Hurst, who lives at Higham Ferrers; Mrs. Jones, residing at Wellingborough; Mr. Edwin Tansey, a grocer at Gravesend; and Mrs. Groom, a widow living at home with her parents.  A granddaughter is in Canada, and a grandson is in India.

Mr. and Mrs. Tansey have received many congratulations, and this Christmas they hope to have as large a family reunion as possible.  They still find Rushden a very pleasant place to lie in, and have naturally watched its progress together for over a quarter-of-a-century with interest and pride.
