On September 8th 1892, at the New Congregational Chapel, Yardley Hastings, a wedding was conducted by the Rev. W. E. Coupland, the bride being Miss Lizzie Ward and the bridegroom Mr. Enos Wooding, both of that village.
Mr. and Mrs. Wooding are still going ahead, the husband aged 74 and the wife 82, and on Tuesday they celebrated their golden wedding with enthusiasm at Rushden, where for 44 years they have resided at 12 Upper Queen-street, seeing some great changes in their “end” of the town.
Both were regular worshippers and workers at the Independent Wesleyan Church, High-street, until a few years ago, when Mr. Wooding joined the Full Gospel Church.
As a young man Mr. Wooding was employed on the Marquis of Northampton’s estate, but for most of his years he has been in the boot trade. He served Messrs. James Hyde for some years and is now employed by Messrs. P. Collins and Co., heel manufacturers.
One son, Walter, was killed in the last war. The remaining son and three daughters, with wife and husbands respectively, seven grandchildren and a few friends, including the Rev T. S. and Mrs. Kee (Independent Wesleyan Church) and Pastor and Mrs. Crew (Full Gospel Church), attended the golden wedding celebration. A shoal of messages added to the pleasures of the day.
