in Rushden

c1905 - Note all types of transport within this one postcard - cycle, car,
horse & cart, motor cycle and side car - and 'Shank's pony' (walking!)

John Clipson, inventor, engineer and businessman, is thought to have owned the first car in Rushden.
John Clark, shoemanufacturer and brickmaker, who instigated the electricity company, also had a car in 1907. John sent a parcel to his chauffeur, in 1914 when he enlisted in the Royal Field Artillery.
