Rushden's 'Gurkhas'

New recruits for a local Volunteer Training Corps met at the Rushden Town Cricket Ground with schoolmaster John Reynolds in charge. Many were underage, infirm, or too old for the army. Eventually 200 men from Rushden joined the volunteers.

The record book survived and records names, addresses, ages, occupations and infirmities.
