The New Local MagistrateAt a committee meeting of the Rushden Urban Council on Wednesday evening, Mr John Claridge, the Chairman of the Council, was requested to qualify as a magistrate as soon as possible for the convenience of those who wishes to take out summonses.
Note:From 1973-2000 the town only had a sub-committeee of a committee of the district. In 2000 the government allowed certain towns to become Town Councils and these new town councils
were allowed to decide whether they wanted to headed by a chairman or a town mayor.
