Old Windmill Club - redevelopment

Finishing touches.

In 1898 the first Windmill Club was built on the corner of Windmill and Glassbrook Road, opposite the original meeting place.

Moving along to early 2024, the site is being developed for housing etc, by local firm Fernbrook Builders Contractors Developers.

The conversion work was going on during the uncertainty of the current private members club in Glassbrook Road.

It made a change to have a warm chat with some of the lads, who did tell me a bit about what was going on. So thank you chaps for that. This was on Friday 8th March, 2024, on what was a bitterly chilly windy morning. The site would feel a bit more weather resistant, as Glazerite were delivering and installing some window units.

Building work is now complete, and the residents started to move in during Autumn 2024.

Fernbrook Builders Contractors Developers is a solid local firm that has been going for 50 years, and are currently based at 158 Washbrook Road, NN10 6 AA. Telephone 01933-353153.

This is next door to where Robert Marriott had their plant department etc., that opened back in 1968.

The Asda store now sits in that plot of land, which was developed during 2005, it opened in 2006, at a reported cost of £40 million.
