Mrs. Rosa Lydia Shorley of 168 Wellingborough Road, Rushden, died on Thursday week at the age of 78. She was a very skilful lace maker and though her health throughout the winter had been very poor, she had her pillow out less than a month ago and was hoping shortly to start a new piece. She lived with her daughter, Mrs. G. Clayton. Her husband died seven years ago and she leaves besides Mrs. Clayton two other daughters, Mrs. Dear, Enfield and Mrs. Samuel Peck, Rushden and one son Mr. Sam Shorley, Northampton. The funeral took place on Monday with a service at the Wellingborough Road Mission church, the Rev. E. E. Bromage officiating. “Sun of my soul” was sung and Mrs. W. J. Craker played the organ. Principal mourners were Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Shorley, Northampton (son and daughter-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. S. Peck, Rushden (son-in-law and daughter), Mr and Mrs. C. Dear, Enfield (son-in-law and daughter), Mr. and Mrs. G. Clayton (son-in-law and daughter), Miss Kathleen Clayton and Mr. Harold Clayton (grandchildren), Mr. H. Webb (brother) and Mrs. E. A. Wilson, Birmingham (sister), Mr. C. Hart, Wymington (brother-in-law), Mrs. A. Tee, Cransley, Mrs. A. Staite, Bedford (nieces), Mrs. F. Shorley (sister-in-law), Mr. Sam Osborne, Northampton (friend) and Mrs. B. Ette (niece). [There followed a comprehensive list of floral tributes.] Messrs. A. Sanders Ltd.
