The Rushden Argus, 30th July 1897, transcribed by Kay Collins

Extension of Messrs. Cave’s Factory.—The important extensions to Messrs. Cave's factory outlined in our columns a short time since have been commenced this week. The contractor is Mr. Robt. Cosford, of Northampton, and the whole of the painting and gluing has been secured by Mr. A. T. Nichols, of Rushden. The total cost of the extensions will be £7,000. As we pointed out, it is intended to extend the factory to Alfred-street on the one side, running right back to School-lane, and erect lock-up shops along the front of the High-street. The alterations will add considerably to the attractiveness of High-street, as well as make the premises capable of containing some 300 more hands.
